Equity, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion
We are working hard to ensure Wonder Arts reflects, is relevant to and responsive to the communities we serve.
We are committed to ensuring fairness, access and opportunity, supporting diverse work, artists and communities including Global Majority, LGBTQIA+, D/Deaf and disabled communities, resettled communities, early-stage career artists and artists from deprived socio-economic backgrounds.
We are taking actions to improve our inclusivity and relevance to groups with protected characteristics (under the Equality Act and socio-economic diversity) including:
Age
Disability
Sex
Sexual orientation
Race
Religion or belief
Gender reassignment
Marriage or civil partnership
Pregnancy and maternity
We also extend these safeguards beyond the 9 protected characteristics to include other characteristics that may result in a person becoming under-represented, marginalised or minoritised for example; socio-economic status or caring responsibilities.
Our Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Action Plan sets out clear and measurable targets that are founded on research, identifying communities which are under-represented across our workforce, leadership, Governance, programming and audiences.
We embed work in communities and embrace influences to ensure our work is relevant to and reflects not just our local community but all communities.
We programme and support diverse work including Global Majority artists, LGBTQIA+ artists, D/deaf artists, disabled artists, early-stage career artists and artists from deprived socio-economic backgrounds.
We attract a diverse audience in terms of socioeconomic, ethnic and disabled diversity. 82% of audiences are from low-income households, 73% from least engaged socioeconomic groups DE and 43% are D/Deaf/disabled and/or represent the Global Majority.
We are committed to ensuring our workforce and governance board reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
We monitor and report through our robust data collection and external evaluation procedures, so that steps can be taken to further diversify the organisation.
