A Look Back at the Last Three Months
As the year comes to an, we’re having a look back at a wonderful 3 months at Wonder Arts.
With workshops and performances in schools, young wonders sessions and bringing festive fun to families in St Helens and Wigan, we’ve certainly closed the year off in style and we can’t wait to see what wonderful things 2026 will bring.
Incredible Performances
As we continue to share the wonder beyond St Helens, we’re delighted that our programme into Wigan is being so well received by families & partners:
In September we brought performances of Grandad Anansi to schools in St Helens & Wigan.
For the festive season this year, we delivered not 1, not 2. not 3 but 4 family shows across both areas; taking over St Mary’s Market in St Helens and the iconic Pier 4 @ Wigan Pier.
Young Wonders
Our Young Wonders have been busy bringing imagination to life through shadow puppetry! This term, both age groups came together to collaborate with the wonderful Michelle Wren on a special section of our brand-new show, A World Once Wonderful.
Across eight sessions, the group explored how light, shape, and movement can tell our story. They began by designing and crafting the characters that would appear in their piece, carefully cutting and experimenting with materials to see how each element came alive under the projector.
From there, the creativity continued behind the camera, the group filmed their scenes in stop-motion, discovering how tiny movements can build big moments on the projector.
We’re so proud of everything Michelle and the Young Wonders have achieved and cant wait to see the final piece.
Young Volunteers
Our incredible Young Volunteers helped make this year’s Christmas shows truly wonderful! From supporting artists backstage to welcoming families and ensuring everything ran smoothly, their enthusiasm and teamwork brought the festive season to life. You can read more about their brilliant contributions in our blog Christmas Volunteer Stars!.
This term, we wanted to shine a special light on Seth, our oldest serving Young Volunteer. Seth has been part of Wonder Arts for many years and the Young Volunteers for two years, growing in confidence and becoming an essential part of all events he's apart of. He’s fantastic with set-up, technical support, and engaging with audiences, always bringing a calm, can do attitude to every event.
We’re so proud of how far Seth has come and grateful for the reliability, and creativity he brings to everything he does. Volunteers like Seth help make our events truly wonderful.
