A Wonderful Experience

We love talking to participants about their experiences when they take part in one of our projects.

Seb took part in our recent Communities of Wonder project: Be Your Own Cup of Tea and was kind enough to share with us his experience.

My Experience

This has been a brilliant opportunity for me for someone such as myself who is a young artist and part of the LGBTQ+ Community. It’s been a safe haven to get to know other people. share stories and have fun whilst creating amazing pieces of art together. Everyone was welcoming and accepting of others.

What I enjoyed

I have enjoyed being part of a group and being able to create something so meaningful with other people, I have enjoyed our conversations and our laughs and thoroughly enjoyed all of our time together!

What I learned

I have learnt so much!

I’ve learned about different art techniques such as screenprinting, press printing, making cardboard meshes and 3D Art. But more than that I’ve been able to learn and gain insight into so many forms of symbolism and how the culture of LGBTQ+ groups have grown to show their identity.

I have learned of different perspectives and expanded my understanding of hardships, struggles and triumphs faced by different people, listening to new stories and experiences from the people I have met and worked alongside.

This project took place as part of our Communities of Wonder programme, funded by National Lottery Community Fund and made possible by National Lottery Players.

Artwork created by Sebastian Elms, inspired by his experience during the project.
